Paul Allerton is a photographer and dreamer who enjoys exploring what this life and the world have to offer. Many years in traditional publishing, now traveling a path in the digital realm.
An image captures a moment in time, an instant that conveys a mood, an environment, a feeling, a passion, a sense of being an intimate part of the subject. For the photographer, it is more, it is a complete sensory experience, the memory an indelible part of your heart and mind, with a vestige of each exposure carried forward to the next, a cumulative knowledge, a common thread tying life and work together.
For me it began as a child, in a small corner of the basement in our family home, a dim red light barely illuminating my immediate surroundings, the chemical smell of developer, fixer, and stop-agent in trays atop an old science lab table, and my father diligently clicking the light of the enlarger on and off, the ghostly likeness of the negative flashing on paper, and his hands plying the print in solution where a final image would magically appear before our eyes.
The technology has changed since those formative days, but the creative sense of wonder and enchantment never fades, and remains with me each day, in each new adventure.
